Silicon nanocrystal synthesis with the atmospheric plasma source HelixJet

The HelixJet, a plasma source operating under atmospheric pressure with RF power, was used for the synthesis of silicon nanoparticles (Si-NPs) in context relevance nanomedicine, sensor technology, and nanotechnology. HelixJet operated variety He/Ar/H2/SiH4 gas mixtures to characterize Si-NPs regard their size, crystallinity, structure, photoluminescence. Distinct varieties nanomaterials size range from 3 nm over 100 were synthesized depending on operation parameters HelixJet. Admixture H2 alongside high powers led formation crystalline strong photoluminescence intensity, where properties as well nanocrystal yield tunable by adjustment parameters. Post-synthesis in-flight annealing allowed large nanoparticles. In addition, experiments conducted this study resulted design improvement that extends stability range. Furthermore, added spatial separation He/H2 He/Ar/SiH4 streams (SiH4 injection on-axis) minimizes material deposition within enables continuous long-term operation.
